Iphone wont connect to Sky internet?

I brought an iphone and set it up and i have 500 mb of internet but i don't want to use it when i am at home so i connected it to my sky router at it connected but now one second it will say its connected and then flicker on and off of connectivity. plus how do i know if i am using 3g or wireless internet?
